A Different Approach
Fundamental to our coaching philosophy is the fact that each person has enormous power to heal themselves. People have been misled to believe that they have little control over their health outcomes. Many believe that they must rely on doctors and medications to “fix” them, but that’s simply not true. Of course doctors and medications are wonderful resources and necessary in many cases, but we know that the majority of Americans suffering from chronic disease could get healthier on their own with simple, often inexpensive changes to their lifestyle. The problem is that the health and wellness world has become a labyrinth of conflicting information and advice, and most people don’t know what’s true or where to start.
That’s where we come in.
With our years of experience in health care, fitness, and performance optimization, we are intimately familiar with the challenges people face, and we’ve structured our coaching relationships to address the individual goals, concerns, and lifestyles of our clients.
The word kairos means “the time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action.” It’s different than chronos, which refers to the measured passage of time: seconds, minutes, hours, years.
In contrast, kairos is that moment in time when action is precise and right. It’s the pause before an archer releases his arrow to hit his target. It’s a speaker capturing the moment and influencing the course of history with a message that addresses a nation in crisis. It’s the pivotal point when you decide to take control of your own health and influence your future for the better.
We believe those moments are precisely the ones that build a life worth living, and we find the most fulfillment in helping others along that path.

Katie is a practicing dentist who graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. After graduation, she became a high school chemistry teacher and coach. Knowing she still had a desire to pursue a career in healthcare, she returned to dental school and graduated summa cum laude with her DMD degree from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. In 2016, she returned to SIU School of Dental Medicine as faculty, where she currently serves as the Director of Community Dentistry and Clinical Assistant Professor. She is in private practice at Foley Dental Group in Glen Carbon, IL and Baines Dental Wellness in Springfield, IL, both of which are complete health practices where she treats adults and children. She formally committed to furthering her knowledge in the area of nutrition and complete health by enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she graduated as an Integrative Nutrition Coach.
As a holistic dentist, she found herself having conversations with patients about much more than teeth. She regularly talks to patients about nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle, and regularly collaborates with other health care providers to address cardiovascular and metabolic health concerns. Having limited time during a dental appointment to really address a patient's whole-health concerns and being married to an expert in fitness and performance psychology, Katie and her husband Willie decided to launch Kairos to offer comprehensive health coaching services to clients who wanted help being the best versions of themselves.
In addition, she is a mom to three boys, and enjoys all the craziness that comes with it. In her free time, she loves fitness, officiating basketball, golfing, reading, and anything that gets her out into nature.

Willie’s passion for fitness and overall health optimization began at a young age when he found himself fascinated with dissecting the process of how he could become stronger, faster, and better. Always one to seek out new knowledge, even in middle school he found himself in the library looking for resources on how he could develop himself and apply new knowledge to his training and approach to performance.
This innate passion led to him a career within both exercise science and performance psychology, where he has now helped hundreds of clients pursue a better version of themselves through prescribed movement and equally important, through their mindset around how they approach challenges along the way.
With nearly two decades of experience and an unwavering commitment to being a lifelong learner, Willie’s ability to meet the specific needs of clients is what sets him apart. Never cookie cutter and always thoughtful, Willie approaches each client’s goals uniquely and with the appropriate dose of prescribed movement. Programmed workouts, remote, coaching, and in-person sessions are all available depending on the clients needs.
Willie also serves as faculty at McKendree University in both the undergraduate Health and Wellness program, as well as serving as the director for the Masters in Performance Psychology and Leadership program.
